Alphameric was a software vendor to the Retail, Hospitality and Bookmaking industry. I worked in the Bookmaking and Leisure systems implementation and support.

I also formed part of a team to relocate and merge Network Infrastructure and computer systems from 2 separate buildings into one new building in Aberdeen Scotland. This included the physical relocation of all computer equipment and reconfiguring servers and clients to work on the new TCP/IP address range.

You've made it all the way down to my 1st employed role in Information technology. This is more or less as close as we can get to the beginning of corporate networks.

This either shows the length and breadth of my Information Technology experience or it just says I have been around Information Technology for quite a long time.

I still actively use the knowledge and experience gained in this and all the other roles above on a daily basis. The basics never change but the possibilities are enhanced with each new version of the basic building blocks.

My duties included the maintenance of a Novel network with 6 servers running V3.12 and one server running V4.1 1. My duties also included assisting and training staff and students in the use of the network.

I worked with Microsoft Applications and operating systems such as Windows NT 4 Server and Workstation, Windows NT 3.51 workstation, Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and 3.11 for workgroups, Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, Author ware Star and Professional authoring software.

I was involved in installing and supporting all of the above applications. I played an active role in the repair, assembly and general maintenance of workstations.
