I am Chair of a Vistage CEO group based in the North West.

Members of my group are a lively mix of talented CEOs from diverse business sectors, including large well-known corporates, privately owned and family run companies, public sector and charitable organisations.

Working life started as an Engineer with Schlumberger testing oil and gas wells in the Far & Middle East following a degree in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College in 1982. I returned to the UK 5 years later and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton in Manchester. In 1992 I joined North of England Ventures, a highly successful Private Equity firm based in the North West where I became a Director. Further roles included Northern Director for Granville Baird Capital Partners before becoming Managing Director of Alliance Fund Managers, the fund manager for the £107m Merseyside Special Investment Fund where I joined a CEO group. In 2010 I set up my own consultancy business whilst continuing with The Academy for Chief Executives as a Deputy Chair. Vistage acquired the Academy of Chief Executives in March 2018.

I have worked with hundreds of businesses in every sector at board level. I have a wealth of experience of buying and selling businesses and turnaround situations, as well as working with businesses on their growth strategies.

Outside of Vistage I work as a non-executive Director, provide strategic, funding and exit planning, coach and mentor a number of CEOs and Chairs and mediate in difficult confrontational situations involving companies and shares.
