In my twenties I captained the British Trampoline team and travelled the world, I wish I could do it all again. Soon after retiring from competitive sport, I found I was best suited to working for myself, which led to me starting a telecoms company in 1999 that I built from scratch to at team of 30 and a turnover of £3.5m.
I still have a major stake in that company, however some turbulance in my personal life led to seeking balance with family committments and optimum health. I feel that my experiences in business and in life generally can bring value to any ambitious organisation. In terms of specific business experience, building a team of 30 and revenue of £3.5m makes you a competatent all rounder, but you have to be able create a vision to achieve any real success in business, and your team has to trust you, I believe I am strongest when it comes to gaining the belief of a team, and creating visions for product and how to stand out from the crowd. Life has also dealt me some harsh lessons, from which I have learned a great deal, including how to avoid (and guide others to avoid) making similar errors ever again, and I consider those lessons to be priceless.
