A qualified journalist I was invited to become Rt Hon Margaret Thatcher's political press secretary and Director of Communications for the British Conservative Party ( 1976-83) and then launched one of Britain's first lobbying companies, specialising in Defence Public Procurement and Healthcare. After 10 years I sold the company to Omnicom and became an investor and non-exec director of UK Radio Developments Ltd, one of the new wave of private radio station groups.
My passion has always been people development, especially young managers, and I launched Farsight Management Ltd, a graduate training and recruitment company working for multinational groups such as Unilever, Glaxo Smith Kline, Pfizer, the World Health Organisation, General Dynamics, McDonnell Douglas and Lockheed Martin.
This work led to an invitation in 2003 to take on the Headship of a failing London boys' secondary school - a career change and challenge as I had never been trained as a teacher! In 2012, after the school had turned around, I was elected Chairman of the UK Society of Headteachers and today remain a major contributor to their Headteacher training programmes.
In 2013 a group of investors asked me to Chair the small education services group, Anglo Schools International Services Ltd. The company has led the innovation in Virtual Learning Environments and health and safety equipment. It also runs 9 franchise areas for Canadian company, Tutor Doctor Inc. The company is currently developing further digital solutions in the supplementary education field.
I founded the charity 'Lucca Leadership Trust' for young community leaders in 1999 and remain its Patron. I have undertaken a range of other voluntary work, including 'End of Life' Counselling.
I lead Christian Meditation Groups across the UK and provide counselling support to young job-seekers.
