Successfully transformed all local financial, governmental and administrative processes for a £700m World Bank-funded project in DR Congo, ensuring they were compliant and ethical following a failed internal audit.
Reviewed audit and developed a strategic project to resolve all issues. Rewrote and implemented a comprehensive and robust finance manual and then observed and monitored the progress of the project to ensure regulations and requirements were adhered to.
Resolved all major compliance issues which allowed the project to resume with increased efficient and through compliance procedures in place. Subsequent audits led to no further findings and finance manual established was later utilised across the ABB group for international projects at local level.

Designed and implemented a complete education and international certification system from elementary to apprenticeships (City & Guilds) and engineering for a work force of 1200 persons of which over 80% were totally illiterate and innumerate.
Carried out the necessary community relations development to create 6 local schools in parallel (funded by the company, equipped and staffed) and carried out the necessary union negotiation to assure correct pay scale adherence.
In parallel, designed and implemented full operating processes to ensure correct labour and staff remuneration, including to the National Contract pay scales and including a performance evaluation system.
For all of the above, obtained the agreement with the Ministry of Labour and subsequently the Ministry of Mines, obtaining full renewal of the Exploration, Exploitation and Mining Licence and full sign-off on ‘JV’ agreement with Government of Mali.
