Based inside the grounds of Carlisle's castle the museum exists to bring to life the story of the county's Infantry Regiment and its soldiers past and present. One of the core purposes of the charity is to create a community for, and provide support to veterans of the regiment and their families. In addition the museum provides educational services both inside the museum with special displays and events along with talks in local schools and other organisations.

Along with normal Trustee duties I have been responsible for ensuring that the financial data brought to the quarterly trustees meetings is robust and enables effective decision making. I have led the transition of the finance function from paper & spreadsheets to fully digitalised using Xero and linked till system.

My role as board advisor also included coaching and mentoring of the senior finance manager to ensure reporting to the report was complete, accurate and timely.

Electronics manufacturing company providing a service based solution to companies looking for low volume high value circuit boards.

As FD I led the implementation of an ERP system to enable the business to scale.

Acquired the business from liquidation and as sole shareholder and director, led the business from a turnover of £100k to £1.7m.
The business supplies a nationwide network of food service distribution companies.
The growth was achieved by focussing on the development and maintenance of key stakeholder relationships along with the implementation of robust strategic planning and financial processes for reporting and control.
A suite of KPIs were regularly monitored to ensure strategic goals were achieved.
A key element of the growth strategy was to develop talent from within the company resulting in a very low staff turnover.
Fundraising for growth was obtained from traditional sources and from new challenger providers including Market Finance.
The business was sold to investors and continues to scale.
