I qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and since 2002 have run Employment Law Support and ActifHR Limited as Employment Law and HR consultancies to business. ActifHR, based at Silverstone Park, was founded in 2014, in response to the challenges faced by the managing personnel of high performance engineering and motorsport businesses with regard to the ‘3Rs’ of Human Resources and Employment Law… Recruit, Retain, Release.
I specialise in helping business owners and managers to:

• Control legal risk and improve compliance
• Increase employee satisfaction
I work in close partnership with businesses to get to know and understand the business, employee relations and how they operate across a variety of sectors, although with a specialism in high tech engineering businesses. As well as a thorough knowledge of the regulations and case-law, I use the practical application of the law and procedures in a non-nonsense way to guide businesses through a range of HR situations, whether there is an in-house HR team or not.
I have worked at all levels of business consultancy from adhoc support to HR Manager and Director level to assist businesses to form their People strategy. In addition, I advise on all areas of induction, interview support, probationary reviews, performance reviews and appraisals, Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures; managing redundancies and company reorganisation; contracts of employment; training repayment agreements; consultancy agreements; short-term contracts; company handbooks; policies and procedures including Internet, Email, computer and social media policies; remote working, GDPR documentation; managing short and long-term sickness issues; disability, sex and race discrimination; early stage tribunal claims and associated employment legislation. I am currently assisting companies with planning their Corporate Social Responsibility journey.
